Components Subsystem

Microsoft Component Object Model COM subsystem plays an important role in both Microsoft Windows OS and third party applications. COM subsystem uses the registry to store registration information. Different pieces of the registration are located in different places in the registry. The pieces are tightly connected with one another. This is why damaging any part of this registration information affects the whole system.

There can be several reasons for these errors:

1. Incorrect application uninstaller that left some obsolete registry entries related to program components.
2. Installation of a new version without uninstalling the previous. This causes links to become invalid.
3. Operation of some antivirus or anti spyware programs that can remove files but might leave the registry in an inconsistent state.

These errors can cause incorrect operation of some applications. Large number of these errors decreases performance of the whole system.
